Privacy Policy

Waitday is a countdown app for iPhone and Android. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app or this website. The short version: your countdowns stay on your phone. Waitday has no account, shows no ads and doesn’t track you.

Who is responsible

The person responsible for processing your data (the “controller” under the GDPR) is named in the box above. For anything about your data, email privacy@waitdayapp.com.

What stays on your phone

Everything you create in Waitday is stored only on your device:

• your countdowns: their names, dates, times, colours, how they repeat and their reminders;
• photos you choose from your library as covers (Waitday keeps a copy inside the app);
• your settings, such as the theme and language;
• what your home screen widgets show.

We never receive this information. It’s removed when you delete the app, and it’s included in your phone’s own backups (iCloud or Google) if you use them.

Reminders

Reminders are scheduled on your phone by the operating system. Waitday doesn’t run a notification server, so no information about your countdowns leaves your device to deliver them.

Photos from Unsplash

When you search for a cover photo, Waitday sends your search words to Unsplash to find matching photos. The photos are then loaded from Unsplash’s servers, which see your device’s IP address, as with any website. When you choose a photo, Waitday tells Unsplash it was used, as Unsplash requires so it can credit the photographer. No information that identifies you is sent with these requests. Unsplash’s handling of data is described in the Unsplash privacy policy.

Purchases

Waitday Premium is bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment; we never see your card or payment details.

To check whether Premium is active and to restore it on a new device, Waitday uses RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives a random identifier created for your installation of the app, along with your purchase and subscription status from the store. It doesn’t receive your name or email address. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.

The legal basis for this processing is the performance of the contract for your purchase (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Emails to support

If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. Emails started from the app’s Settings include your app version, phone operating system and language, which you can see and change before sending. We use this only to answer you and delete it once it’s no longer needed. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering your questions (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

This website

This website is hosted by Vercel. When you visit, Vercel processes your IP address and technical details of your request (such as the browser and the page requested) to deliver the site and keep it secure, and keeps them in server logs for a short time. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. Fonts and images are served from this website itself.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Because your countdowns are stored only on your device, you control them directly. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@waitdayapp.com.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the country where you live or work.

Children

Waitday is not directed at children under 13 and doesn’t knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Waitday handles your information, we’ll update this page and the date below.
